A two story residential house in Lucas was left in ruins after a fire broke out late Thursday night.

A house fire in Lucas late Thursday night had local firefighters battling flames for more than two hours on Stanford Drive. The first call came in at 10:05 p.m. and was not put out until 2:05 a.m.

“I smelled smoke and I walked outside and the sky was orange towards the back of my neighborhood and I went back there and you could see that the house was on fire,”

sophomore Cameron Hobgood said. “There were ashes falling from the sky as well.”

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but it destroyed much of the two story residence as the fire resulted in the roof collapsing in several places.
