Lip dub scheduled for Friday

Lip+dub+scheduled+for+Friday

Broadcast students are busily preparing for the annual senior lip dub. Scheduled to take place Friday afternoon, seniors will be allotted time during the school day to film, and are highly encouraged to bring props and costumes for the video. Senior broadcast students Anna Ellison and Kacy Guajardo are leading organizers of the effort.

“On Friday, there’s a community service project for seniors, every grade has something else to do, but we have the service project in the morning,” Ellison said.  “We’re going to get, probably about an hour and a half that afternoon to film it.”

The song for the lip dub will be “Everybody Talks” by Neon Trees. A rehearsal for seniors with solos is set to take place on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

With the help of administration, the lip dub is being filmed much earlier this year in order to increase participation.

“We just wanted to make sure it was done early enough that if there was anything that went awry with it maybe technology wise, or there was a reason to add or take away from, there was time to edit if it needed to be done,” assistant principal Kristen Kinnard said.

The broadcast team is attempting to be as organized as possible with Ellison personally talking to seniors who requested solos, and working with Guajardo to address all aspects of the video prior to Friday.

“We felt that this was a good opportunity to take care of it [the lip dub], and get a lot of seniors involved,” Ellison said.

For suggestions or questions regarding the senior lip dub, contact Anna Ellison or Kacy Guajardo.

Mackenzie Miller, Assistant Managing Editor
As a young child, Mackenzie Miller’s greatest aspiration was to become an astronaut. Unfortunately, her lack of life experience and general naivety prevented her from seeing that “astronaut” was really a dying career. Desperately trying to find new meaning in her life, Miller floated through her early years of schooling, seeking something to fill the void left by her prematurely crushed aerospace dreams.  Her existence finally became worthwhile upon joining the Red Ledger staff her senior year at Lovejoy High School. While soccer and her role as key club president had merely been ways to pass time in previous years, she found the meaning of life and the universe in newspaper. Miller is a genuine fan of all things Disney, especially The Little Mermaid, which she takes any chance to sing at the top of her lungs, and all things sweet. Devoting most of her conscious thinking power to cupcakes, Miller has little time for any other activities of merit. The sum of Miller’s existence, newspaper and cupcakes, nothing else.
