20 awards. 4 months. 3 spotlight teams. A simple combination that reveals the success of Lovejoy Robotics. Push Back, the season of the year, isn’t over yet, but it is safe to say that 20 awards were the number to watch out for in 2025. The hard work the teams have put in is paying off, yielding great outcomes and accomplishments. Lovejoy Robotics’ students are giving results. It’s about time that the recognition for their achievements is shown, while also getting an inside reveal at how they manage to pull it off and remain winners.
In just four months, the awards garnered by the 1082 organization (Lovejoy Robotics Program) are remarkable for such a short time. Especially since 1082 has only attended 6 competitions in total (one of which included a trip to the Indianapolis Speedway Competition). To elaborate, each award won is divided into prestigious categories and criteria that have to be followed to win the award in the first place. Teams weren’t given the awards; they were earned through follow-through and achievements. 1082 won 2x Excellence awards, 3x Design Awards, 2x Innovate Awards, 6x Tournament Champions, 3x Skills Awards, 2x Amaze, and 2x Tournament finalist. Please note that this occurred in 2025, starting from August. This means that it is predicted that more winning trophies will be added to the collection in 2026, to be displayed on top of the shelf in the lab.
Each team in the Lovejoy Robotics Program has put in significant effort to strive relentlessly and commit wholeheartedly. However, there were 3 teams that truly took over the spotlight this year. 1082M Meltdown, 1082E Carbonated Potato, and 1082J Jumbo Shrimp have been taking it all when it comes to success, sleepless nights, and long hours of travel in the hopes of coming home with a trophy back to the lab. Their creative designs and determination to see it through to the end are exceptionally motivating. These students’ ability to come together from diverse backgrounds to form a cohesive team is a skill they demonstrate well, as only high school students can. Overall, showing the real-world skills in action that they will have for the rest of their future.
The takeaway is clear: Lovejoy Robotics remains stronger than ever, thanks to its teams, people, students, staff, and the environment they have created. The determination and ambition these students have to win it all is inspiring. The program showcases the true experience and skill sets students are conditioned to undergo. These skills are evident when a robot breaks right before the competition, with notebookers working around the clock to document the design process, and programmers consistently coding to the very last detail before competing at a match. However, even after all those problems, these outstanding students demonstrate what robotics is truly about.
