Expected to have fierce competition and fearsome players. Catch a glimpse at the battle ahead, take a listen to each team’s pre-game interview and how they feel they will play this year.

Editor’s note: The reporting in this series is intended to be humorous and has been blown out of proportion for the purposes of entertainment.

Screaming fans, silly posters, squeaking gym floors, superb spirals and sweat dripping down the players’ faces showcase the most important time of the year: Powderpuff Football. The teams have been putting in the work for the last year to prove that they are the superior class. The NFL and NCAA football leagues don’t even come close to comparing to the competition level of the Lovejoy Powderpuff League (LPPL). Grab your face paint, grade color, megaphone and your school spirit to get a glimpse of the biggest games of 2022. This Thursday at 12:40 p.m. sharp, the battle will begin.

Last year, the LPPL was back and better than ever. All three games were intense and aggressive. Only the toughest and the skilled made it out alive. In 2021, the sophomores upset the juniors, meaning that the senior class of 2023 has yet to win a game. This could mean that for the first time in Lovejoy history, the senior tradition of winning is at stake. The seniors have taken last year’s loss as their inspiration to blow out the competition and go out with a BANG.

This year is expected to have fierce competition and fearsome players. All teams seem to have loads of experience and talented coaches, except the freshmen who have yet to play. Because of the intensity of last year, the level of competitiveness this year has also gone to a new level. To catch a glimpse at the battle ahead, take a listen to each team’s pre-game interview and how they feel they will play this year.

About the Contributor
Mia Reaugh, Editor-In-Chief
Going into her junior year of high school and third year on staff, Mia Reaugh is ecstatic to start the year as Editor-In-Chief with her partner in crime, Campbell Lester. Outside the classroom you can find Reaugh running at Celebration park, binge-watching the latest reality TV show, waiting in line at Smoothie King or hanging out with her awesome friends (shoutout Pink PJs). Reaugh loves all things competitive! She runs track for Lovejoy and got second place in the 4x400 with her best friends/teammates at state this past spring. Reaugh’s favorite things consist of: Powerade, Zach Bryan, sunsets, Armor Coffee, Taylor Swift and Hoka running shoes. If you have any movie, song or book recommendations, don't be afraid to tell her. Reaugh hopes this year doesn’t fit into the horrible junior year stereotype and is able to accomplish her hefty goals.
