Survival games are all the rage at the moment. Games like Day-Z, H1Z1, and The Forest are all big hits on Steam, and growing in popularity everyday. From the creators of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series comes a new free-to-play game called Survarium.

Right now, Survarium only has a team deathmatch mode, but survival will be added shortly. The graphics are top notch and the environments sport day and night cycles, rain, and clouds. The maps are very well crafted, as they fit the post-apocalyptic setting very well with their dreary and broken down buildings. As of now, the story is almost non-existent. Besides the four different factions that fight one another, there is no other explanation for the plot. Like in all MMO’s there are guns, equipment, and items available to players to buy for in-game cash and for real world money. In Survarium, the pay-to-win system is very obvious. It is fun to play without using real world money, but players who do not spend money on equipment will find that those who do will constantly have an upper hand.

Right now, there is only a handful of game modes, the most popular being Team Deathmatch. Five players are pitted against another team of five players on a variety of maps and the first team to score one hundred kills wins. The developers, Vostok Games, have promised a survival aspect in the near future, but a definite release date is still to be determined.

All in all, the game is totally worth it. The game has loads of potential and is enjoyable for any fan of FPS shooters who want something a little different.
