Every other year, MONEY Magazine names the so-called 100 “Best Places to Live” in America. Our hometown Allen made the 13th spot, with the neighborhood city of McKinney ranking 2nd.
This is a step up for Allen, which ranked 16th in 2010 and 20th in 2008.
Allen ISD’s new $60 million stadium was a large factor in this decision, being specifically mentioned on MONEY Magazine’s website.
The statistics that are taken into account for this ranking are median family income per year, percentage of job growth, median home price, test scores for reading and math, personal and property crime rates, restaurants within 15 miles, the high temperature in July, the low temperature in January, and the median age.
Allen scored better than the average “Best Place to Live” in all of these except test scores. To learn more, visit
