At the intersection of Bethany and Lucas Road, there sits a Walgreens, a residential neighborhood, and two empty lots. But not for long. Beginning in mid-2012, the construction of a new Wal-Mart will shake things up on the border of the Allen and Lucas city limits.
Relatively unchanged for decades, Lucas is about to see some new major development. In a matter of months, 180,000 square feet of groceries and merchandise will sit under the single roof of Wal-Mart, making it the fifth Wal-Mart affiliate in a little less than a 5 mile radius.
The store will include all the usual Wal-Mart features β merchandise, groceries, and a pharmacy β in a building designed with energy efficient technology that minimizes waste.
Wal-Mart plans on beginning construction in mid-2012, and open for business in early 2013.
