“Off Season” by J. Cole

In 2014, the world was introduced to classic rap songs such as “No Role Modelz,” “A Tale of Two Cities,” and “Love Yours.” All of these songs were released off of legendary rapper J. Cole’s album “2014 Forest Hill Drive.” The timelessness of “2014 Forest Hill Drive” comes from the specific style of rap J-Cole used when he made it. It wasn’t considered traditional rap, because of his unique flow and profound lyricism. Of course a rapper of his caliber was featured on songs in between, but since the album’s debut, J. Cole has yet to release another project of his own. Well, until now that is. J. Cole’s new album “Off-Season” is set to be released today. “Off-Season” is one of the most anticipated rap albums of the year, and debatably of all-time, because of J-Cole’s infamous previous album. The anticipation has grown especially after the release of the song, “i n t e r l u d e” on May 7, which came straight off of the album.

“All I know so far” by P!nk

Alecia Beth Moore , known professionally as Pink was a major influence in the early 2000s as a pop-rock artist. However, P!nk hasn’t released an album since 2012 with her project “The Truth About Love.” “All I know so far” is a greatly anticipated album from Pink’s main audience, because it has been so long since her last project. This upcoming album is also highly anticipated due to the lack-luster genre. Rock music has been on a steady decline since the beginning of the 2010’s with rap being the most mainstream. Pink’s music can be described in a bunch of different ways but to keep it simple it’s just fun. She has no problem belching her lungs out on a track, and this effort from an artist is extremely noticeable to the audience. Out of all the artist’s out there, Pink is definitely up there for her dedication to her music. This dedication is noticeable not only in her music, but also in her everyday life. Out of most of the photographs you can find on the internet of Pink she is always supporting the rocker look. This famous pop-rock artist’s music is always anticipated from fans of the genre, and this upcoming album is no exception.

Breakout Artist Zac Greer

I like to consider myself to be someone who can enjoy all types of music. Whether it is pop music or country music from a big or small artist, I like it all. After scavenging  hours on end looking for a new breakout artist of the summer, I finally came across an artist that caught my eye, but it was in the least expected of places. In early 2021, a teenage boy named Zac Greer came across my “for you” page on TikTok, and I was nothing but ecstatic. This joy from Greer’s music is because he tends to use a high-volume guitar in his music which makes the listener feel as if they’re in a concert. Zac Greer is an artist who makes pop music related to the current era of music. The current era of pop music isn’t untraditional to the pop music of old, but nowadays each artist puts their own spin on the genre. Although he didn’t  produce a full album, certain songs such as “Melatonin,”“Enemies,” and “Crazy,” are all high-production songs that flew under the main-stream radar. Each and every one of these songs consists of a catchy chorus, amazing vocals, and a surprising rasp from the artist when he sings. Greer’s vocals make him out to be a perfect EDM artist, this is because of his abstract style. The use of a bunch of different instruments can be seen throughout his music, and most especially the bass guitar. His use of the bass in his music contains similarities of EDM music, due to EDM music being all about bass. Greer is the perfect artist if you enjoy alternative music, or EDM music because of his unique sound.

Hannah Gonzalez, Graphics Editor
Mama Mia, here we go again. As she takes her last ride in the TRL classroom, Hannah Gonzalez is ready to end this year with a bang. Gonzalez serves as a Co-Graphics editor for the third year in a row and this is her fourth year on staff. When she’s not making killer graphics, you can most likely find Gonzalez on the volleyball court, at FCA meetings, in school or going for a joy ride in the Jeep that she named “Beep.” Although TRL is life, Gonzalez also enjoys going for late-night ice cream runs, watching early morning sunrises, going to church every Sunday morning and going on an occasional lake trip. To add to her list of accomplishments, Gonzalez has won three state championships and is looking for a fourth. With her happy planner by her side, Gonzalez is looking forward to kicking procrastination to the curb as she conquers her final year as a high school student.
