Maroon 5 captivates AAC audience

Maroon+5+captivates+AAC+audience

The audience is suddenly plunged into heart-stopping blackness. There is a collective intake of breath across the thousands of anxious fans. Everyone knows who will strut onto the stage within moments. It’s the band they’ve known for years; the one whose singles populate almost every radio station and iPod. From their Grammy-winning hits to their more recent albums, their songs have become a part of our generation’s music.

As dozens of blinding lights flash to the beats, a curtain drops from the ceiling, revealing the members of Maroon 5. Dressed in black, their energy captivates the audience as they launch into their opening song. The well-known lyrics of “Payphone” are sung, screamed, and shouted, as the audience gets pumped up.

Girls swoon as Adam Levine reaches impossibly high notes and dances around the stage. His suave style has women of all ages shrieking, and even the men in the audience cannot help but buy into his charismatic performance. In a fitted black t-shirt, he reveals his sleeves of colorful tattoos. He confidently struts down the M-shaped stage.

While it’s obvious that Levine is the main attraction, he makes sure to highlight his fellow band members throughout the show as they play and sing in perfect unison.  Alternating between slow ballads and energetic pop tunes, they keep the audience entertained and engaged. Their set list included songs from their new album, such as “Lucky Strike”, “Daylight”, and “Wipe Your Eyes”. The band also went back a few years with timeless classics, from “She Will Be Loved” to “Won’t Go Home Without You.

As far as vocal talents go, Levine possesses a true gift. His strong voice carries across the audience without hesitation. He hits every note and tirelessly pumps up the crowd. While he might have a big head, much of his arrogance is probably well earned.

Before they came on stage, the two opening acts Owl City and Neon Trees had worked to get the crowd ready for the main attraction.Although Owl City was not on par with the rest of the concert, because of a lack of energy and interaction with the crowd, Neon Trees was incredible. The lead singer’s vocal ability and dance moves blew the crowd away.

Overall, the concert got better and better as the night went on, leaving the audience exhausted from dancing and screaming lyrics. Maroon 5 put on another exhilarating performance and the rest of their career is sure to be just as successful.
