The Leopards finished their district season with a perfect record– undefeated, 10-0.
In the final district game against Wylie East, a team who was supposed to put up a big fight, the Leopards ended up victorious with a score of 58-32.
This is the first time in the school’s history that the football team has been 10-0. The Leopards will begin their playoff run Friday, November 16, in Forney against the District 14 runner up, the Hallsville Bobcats.
The Bobcats are 7-3 and although they are the fourth ranked team in District 14, they are considered the runner up because they, along with one other school from District 14, will be competing in 4A Division II and the other two teams will be competing in Division I.
The difference in Division I and Division II is just the size of the school. The Leopards are the 16th smallest school in all of 4A, putting them in Division II.
While the Bobcats have better numbers than the Leopards rushing-wise, the Leopards have far more average yards per game for passing. Hallsville defense seems to be strong, with an average of 65.5 tackles per game, while the Leopards have an average of 25.5.
The Bobcat quarterback, Austin Toney, number 12, has a total of 1469 passing yards with .656 completion percentage. Leopard quarterback Bowman Sells has a total of 2209 passing yards far outnumbering Toney.
The Bobcat’s best rushing player on paper is Thaddeus Fagan, with an average of 86.2 rushing yards per game.
Hallsville is not expected to give up easily but posts on The Smoakhouse Forums are thinking that the Leopards have the advantage, having played at Forney once before.
The game will be played tonight, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Forney City Bank Stadium.
