9/11 movie moments

9/11 movie moments
9/11 is a day the nation will never forget. Many people have written books and made movies about this tragedy.

World Trade Center
This movie is based on the real life story of a group of policemen from Manhattan who go to help the rescue. John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno are the only survivors from their station after becoming trapped under the fallen towers. This movie captures not only the attack, but the hours following the collapse of the trade towers.  Firefighters in the film were played by real FDNY members who served on 9/11.

United 93
Everybody knows about the planes that crashed into the world trade center and the pentagon. But not everyone knows about the fourth plane that was headed to the capital. Passengers on flight United 93 took back the plane, causing it to crash into a field before reaching its destination.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
This movie shows a younger point-of-view from the attack, featuring a 9-year-old boy who lost his father and wants to know why this happened, as did many other people hurt by this tragedy. As the boy’s mother, Linda Schell says, “It’s never going to make sense because it doesn’t.”

Heroes of the 88th Floor

A documentary on Discovery Channel, Heroes of the 88th floor is the remarkable story of two ordinary men doing a miraculous thing. Frank DeMartini and Pablo Oriz refused to leave the tower. While everyone was heading down; they were making their way up. They stayed and saved 75 people. These two men lost their lives in the collapsing of the towers. This documentary has interviews with the survivors themselves who were rescued by DeMartini and Oriz.

Darby Blaylock, Staff Reporter
Greetings children. My name is Darby Darton Blaylock. I am 17 years old. I have been apart of the newspaper staff for 6 years now. I enjoy it for the most part. I love to fish and be outside. I will not watch any Nicholas Sparks movies. Ever. I listen to older rock, alternative music, and a little country here and there. I play soccer for Andromeda FC, and for the school. I am scared of ladybugs because when I was 5 I swear one bit me. I am a morning person, and I was voted most likely to wear track-shorts.
