Cappuccinos, frappuccinos, and specialty teas will be closer to home than ever as the international company, Starbucks, is in the midst of building a store in Lucas. Being built near the new Wendy’s and Walmart on Lucas Road, the store is expected to hold it’s grand opening in late July.

“Corporate told all the stores in the district that if everything goes according to schedule the new location will be opening in late July,” Bethany and 75 Starbucks manager Julie Venezia said. “I heard from other stores that some of their employees are going to start working at that location since it’s easier for them. Corporate also told us that we will be training new employees at current locations, including ours, so that they know what they are doing as soon as they open.”

Students are looking forward to a closer caffeine fix.

“I think it’s great we have a Starbucks within two miles of the school,” sophomore Rachel Patterson said. “It gives me, and others, an opportunity to easily get coffee on the way to or from school. I think those who can drive on campus are really going to appreciate it.”
