Students stepped into the Jungle Friday morning. In anticipation for the Volleyball game tonight against Prosper and the annual Tom Landry Classic on Saturday night against Colleyville Heritage, the gym was decorated with animals, vines and balloons to set the stage for the school year’s first pep rally.

  • Senior Matt Picirrillo plays the trash can drums as part of the Dirty Drumline. The male upperclassmen in the Dirty Drumline plan on attending football games and playing the trash cans with drum sticks in the student section.

  • Junior Grace Felton sings the Alma Mater with the a capella. The pep rally concluded with the fight song performed by the band after the a capella’s Alma Mater.

  • Madison Kohl puts pep in her step during the opening pep rally of the year. With cheer season starting along with football season, they are hoping for a bright future.

  • Senior Christian Cortez and Junior Caroline Dobbs sing the Lovejoy Alma Mater at the end of the pep rally along with the a capella. They performed a remix version of the traditional school anthem.

  • The mascot Leo the Leopard runs around the gym during the school’s first Leopard Battle Cry. Leo later threw the spirit stick into the crowd of seniors as they won the title for most spirited.

  • Senior Addison Lloyd jumps into the air while performing. They cheer while a cover of “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses was played through the speakers.

  • Goddard raises the Dirty Drumline’s trash can lid to get the student crowd to cheer.

  • Superintendent Dr. Michael Goddard hypes up the crowd with a speech. He talked about his pep rally experience nine years ago in comparison to this year’s.

  • Sophomores Jakobi Edwards and Gavin Chassion wrestle to the ground trying to grab the other person’s sock. Two representatives from each grade competed against each other. Edwards won for the sophomores.

  • Junior Alexis Barajas slides across the floor dancing with the Majestics to a blend of several hip-hop songs. They will perform during half time on Saturday’s football game.

  • The band does the leopard battle cry at the conclusion. They performed some of their pieces from their newest production “Juliet”; which proved to be a crowd pleaser.
