The boys soccer team (8-6-1, 7-1-1) will take on the Forney Jackrabbits (4-8-1, 4-5) tonight at 7:15 after bouncing back from their first true loss of the district season by defeating West Mesquite (7-9, 4-5) 6-0.

With playoffs coming soon and the hopes for a deep run, the Leopards still sit at the top of the district standings.

“In preparation for Friday all I can say is that we need to play together like we have in the past, getting an early goal to demoralize them early so we can continue scoring,” junior Bretton Laboret said.

The Leopards soundly defeated Forney in the first half of district, beating them 4-1. However with Forney currently sitting one spot outside of playoffs, it could be a competitive game.

On Tuesday, the Leopards bounced back from their Friday loss to Highland Park (9-4, 6-3) by defeating West Mesquite for the second time this season. Goals were scored by Laboret with a hat trick (three goals), senior Cal Cranfill with two, and junior Kishan Vasal with one goal.

“We put away our chances early and put away the game in the first half, second half we came out and played just as hard if not harder,” junior Enrique Vega said. “Our backline and keeper kept the shutout which kept us on top and saw the game out.”

With the season winding down, the Leopards sit in a strong position with just four games left after tonight as they try to capture the district championship that narrowly eluded them last season.
