Lip Dub Day

In its fifth year, Thursday’s senior lip dub is an opportunity for students to have fun and leave a video legacy. This year senior Garron Weeks is doing the lip dub for his senior project.

“Basically I wanted to make the lip dub because I was interested in video and doing it for my senior project and wanted to create something that everyone could look back on years from now,” Weeks said.

Many people know Weeks for his “Leopard Nation” videos that caught the attention of WFAA.  Now he’s his talents and using them for the lip dub. A project like this takes a lot of planning so Weeks has been working with his senior project mentor Ray Cooper, to prepare.

“Basically I’ve been taking steps to prepare for it for a good amount of time. I’m working with Mr. Cooper planning it all out and scripting it and getting everyone ready for it,” Weeks said. “I’ve also looked at a lot of different lip dubs, some from our school some from others, and got a lot of good ides.”

In addition to the mentoring provided by Cooper, Weeks will be receiving help from other students.

“I’m gonna be helping him a little bit, just with some camera stuff and some set up,” senior Michael Jones said. “I think it’ll be really successful.”

While the basics of a lip dub vary little, Weeks hopes to bring some new twists.

“It’s gonna be unique it’s just going to be senior class but it’s going to be different from other lip dubs,” Weeks said. “There are gonna be some surprises so it’ll be cool.”
