Ava Easley is a senior swimmer on the Lovejoy high school varsity swim team. Easley is committed to Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas alongside her twin brother, Sean. She plans to continue her career swimming for the school’s swim team. Easley was second in the state last year for 100 back and has a big future ahead of her.

The Red Ledger: What inspired you to start swimming?
Ava Easley: My parents put me in swimming lessons when I was young, then I ended up joining a club team and I just started to fall in love with it.
TRL: What are your goals for this season?
AE: My goals are to place high at state in both of my events and get more medals than last year.
TRL: What is your favorite part of swimming?
AE: My favorite part is the team and just having fun with them and going to travel meets.
TRL: What is your favorite event you swim, and why do you enjoy it?
AE: My favorite event is the 200 free relay because it’s exhilarating and fun to compete in alongside my teammates.
TRL: What are you looking forward to in your swimming career?
AE: To keep improving and swim well at the collegiate level.
TRL: How long have you been swimming for?
AE: I have been swimming for 12 years.
TRL: What is your weekly practice routine?
AE: Two-a-days Monday-Friday with morning practice and weights on Saturday mornings. It is a total of 22-24 hours a week in the pool plus weights.
TRL: What has been your biggest challenge this season and how did you overcome it?
AE: The biggest challenge this season is the new classifications. There are new competitors which means it’s going to be harder.
TRL: What is your best memory of swimming?
AE: My best memory of swimming was going to state with my team because we had a lot of fun and the competition was amazing.
