Seniors always win…or do they?

Editor’s note: The reporting in this series is intended to be humorous and has been blown out of proportion for the purposes of entertainment.

Leopard fans, the time you have marked on your calendars has finally arrived. Get your face paint, posters, cowbells, and game faces ready for the ultimate showdown: Powderpuff Football. On Sept. 21, at approximately 1 pm in the gym, each class will get the chance to prove their superiority. For the past year, players have been putting in the work, coaches have been perfecting their craft, and fans have been waiting to get rowdy. Only one team can be crowned the 2023 Lovejoy Powderpuff League (LPPL) champions. The only question is…who will it be?

Last year, the LPPL was as intense and aggressive as ever. The now seniors had a good run, but were not able to defeat the previous seniors. Coming from a loss, they are eager to defend their title. As for the juniors and sophomores, they both have yet to win a game in the LPPL. On the bottom, as always, are the freshman who haven’t even played a single powderpuff game. It will be interesting to see how these past stats translate to the standings this year.

This year is expected to be the most hardcore, serious, and fearsome group of girls that have ever stepped on the court. Before the game, it is a must that you hear what these teams have in store for you. Take a listen to what each team’s pre-game interview and how they feel they will play this year.

It is a known fact that seniors always win…or do they?

Going into her junior year of high school and third year on staff, Mia Reaugh is ecstatic to start the year as Editor-In-Chief with her partner in crime, Campbell Lester. Outside the classroom you can find Reaugh running at Celebration park, binge-watching the latest reality TV show, waiting in line at Smoothie King or hanging out with her awesome friends (shoutout Pink PJs). Reaugh loves all things competitive! She runs track for Lovejoy and got second place in the 4x400 with her best friends/teammates at state this past spring. Reaugh’s favorite things consist of: Powerade, Zach Bryan, sunsets, Armor Coffee, Taylor Swift and Hoka running shoes. If you have any movie, song or book recommendations, don't be afraid to tell her. Reaugh hopes this year doesn’t fit into the horrible junior year stereotype and is able to accomplish her hefty goals.
