The Leopards played under the lights at Leopard Stadium for the first time since the 2018 season, a year in which they won eight games and won a bi-district championship. The Leopards have many new looks on the roster this year, and Thursday’s scrimmage against Frisco Centennial allowed coaches and fans to get a sneak peak of the season before the Tom Landry Classic on Saturday night. On Thursday, the junior varsity team played at 5:30 p.m., and the varsity team followed at 7 p.m.

  • Before the varsity scrimmage, the junior varsity team competed against Frisco Centennial at 5:30p.m.

  • Junior Luke Mayfield jumps up to catch the ball in the endzone thrown by junior Ralph Rucker. Mayfield will be a wide receiver for the Leopards this year.

  • Superintendent Dr. Mike Goddard takes a selfie with Reid White on the sideline before the first play. This is Goddard's first year as superintendent, and his iconic selfies express his enthusiasm for the position.

  • Senior Kelsey Carroll films live video feed the scrimmage against Frisco Centennial. Carroll works with the Daktronics scoreboard to project live video on the new stadium's scoreboard.

  • Junior Parker Braithwaite high fives Coach Herema after a successful offensive series.

  • Coach Austin Coachman gives instructions to the offense during the second half of the scrimmage. Coachman coaches wide receivers and punt returners.

  • Senior Quinn McDermott celebrates on the sidelines after a successful offensive play.

  • Superintendent Dr. Mike Goddard talks to the ball boys on the sidelines. After being the first Lovejoy high school principal, Goddard returned as the new superintendent and actively attends various Lovejoy school and sporting events.

  • Sophomore Noah Naidoo receives a pass at the 20 yard line before reaching the goal line in last week's scrimmage against Centennial. The scrimmage allowed the Leopards to face live competition before the Tom Landry Classic.

  • Junior Jacob Parkinson and freshman Avery Wall fill up water bottles for football athletes and referees with the cow. Trainers also provide Gatorade in one of the six water bottles in each rack.

  • Junior Luke Mayfield receives a punt from Frisco Centennial and returns the ball beyond the 30 yard line.
