After setting three new school records in a loss in last week’s meet at Wakeland, the swim team is set to compete in a meet at McKinney High School tonight.
Head coach Matthew Franks said his team has done extra conditioning to prepare for the upcoming meet.
“We have been building the intensity of practices through the last two weeks, so the team should be a little bit tired tonight, but we are expecting smart, tough races tonight against McKinney,” Franks said.
Franks said he thought the team was successful in spite of last week’s loss to Wakeland.
“The team swam well against Wakeland,” Franks said. “We lost a close meet to one of the strongest teams in the region and the state.”
Two of the three new school records set last week were by junior Jed Michael Jones.
“There were three new school records set, one by our diver, Ana Laura Faoro, and two by Jed Michael Jones,” Franks said. “They were for sure standouts. The team as a whole did a great job of stepping up as we had over 20 lifetime best swims.”
Senior Alex Burns suggested the team has made strides since the beginning of the season.
“Overall as a team, I’d say we have improved in our placement from the first meet of the season against various Frisco schools,” Burns said.
