According to the Red Ledger’s Cameron Stapleton says the new Far Harbor is a great gaming experience.

The first big pack of downloadable content (DLC) for “Fallout 4” has finally arrived. Dubbed “Far Harbor,” this add-on takes players far from the wasteland of the Commonwealth to a huge new area with hours and hours of gameplay.

“Far Harbor” can be started any time the player wants by initiating the first quest. The game will notify players when it is available. Without spoiling the plot, “Far Harbor” is mainly a detective story, but there are plenty of branching paths and side quests that diverge from that formula if you aren’t a fan. It is recommended that players bring companion Nick Valentine with them, as it opens up many opportunities for players, both in the main story and side quests.

The map is huge, a little over half of the main game map it seems, and players will want to spend hours just wondering. Be sure to have good armor and weapons however, as the new enemies that litter the Far Harbor area are very deadly. There are new and diverse characters that help add an element of interest to both the main story and side stories, as well as new weapons, armor, companions, and new areas for settlements and workshops.

This is the first story-based DLC for “Fallout 4,” and if this is any indication of what Bethesda will produce in the future, “Fallout” fans can expect some great content in the future. Besides a very annoying (but optional) quest which involves nerve-racking puzzles, “Far Harbor” is a great add-on that takes all the good things the “Fallout 3” add-ons had while removing the bad. For a $15 price tag, “Far Harbor” is totally worth it for its adding of massive amounts of content.
