The robotics team will be traveling to Greenville High School on Saturday, Feb. 27, for a the regionals competition called VEX “Nothing But Net.”

“We improved the bots quite a bit from even last time, so I think we will do better (than last competition),” senior Brent Powell said. “The competition will be hard, but I think we will hold our own against everyone else.”

To change it up a bit, the “Nothing But Net” competition will focus on robots that can shoot projectiles, specifically tennis balls, into nets.

“All of our bots are completely custom built, every single one of them,” junior Hunter Tombaugh said. “The criteria from each competition varies very much. Last time you had to pick up cubes and stack them, now you are shooting projectiles.”

No matter how they do, the robotics students are happy to meet up with old friends.

“We know a lot of the teams there, so it’s more of a friendly gathering competition,” Tombaugh said.
