Grisham is known for his legal thrillers including “The Firm,” “The Pelican Brief” and “The Chamber,” and his books have sold more than 275 million copies worldwide and have been translated in 42 languages. Eight of his books have been made into feature films.

“Fairfax County Schools sent out an email inviting people to attend, so that’s how I found out about it, through a library listserv that I belong to,” library media specialist Emma McDonald said. “I thought it would be a great opportunity for students to be able to see a very well known author and someone who is an excellent writer and have our first library event of the year.”

McDonald is also planning a wide range of activities for the near future.

“Teen Reads Week is coming up Oct. 18-24 so I am hoping to do something fun then,” McDonald said. “I am thinking about doing a ‘scare-athon’ event after school the week of Halloween to read scary books and turn out the lights.”
