Buying school mums and garters has been made easier with the introduction of the new Majestics Mum Shop online on Etsy.com.

“The Etsy site is our new majestics ways of ordering the mums online,” Majestic mom Deborah Reed said. “And the way it works is we’ve taken pictures of all the mums and garters and we’ve numbered them all, and you go on there and browse the site, and you pick the number that you want, and you purchase it online with a credit card.”

The base is what is paid for online; to add personal touches, coming up to the school is necessary.

“The only thing that you can pay online is for the mum or for the garter, base price, not the trinkets,” Reed said. “So you come here, pick it up, and we personalize it for you and you pay for the trinkets.”

The Etsy idea was created in the hopes of making things easier on the Majestic Mom’s customers.

“[The Etsy site] was just another way to sell mums for us, and it was easier, when you think about, you know, a lot of people use credit cards,” Reed said. “Sometimes people don’t have time to come up to the school, so you know, we just wanted to make it easier for our customers.”

The moms have used their daughters and their homecoming dates to model the mums and garters for the website.

“I modeled garters because I’m family friends with a mom [with a daughter in] Majestics,” junior Brady Bardwell said. “[I think the site is a good idea] because it lets people see the stuff wherever they are and they don’t have to go up to the store. I was happy to do it for them.”

Students like senior Jenny Kaya consider the Majestics mums to be “very high quality.”

“Each one is individually worked on for hours, and they’re not just thrown together with glue and pins,” Kaya said. “The ribbons are cut evenly and meticulously placed, and any ‘trinket’ the student wants can be quickly added on and look natural among the rest. Our moms work really hard on these to fundraise for Spring Show, costuming, competition, and everything else, so we only sell the best.”

The Majestic moms take great pride in creating such a popular product, and the Etsy site has been the icing on the cake for them.

“We’ve had a lot of people using [the Etsy site], I was a little surprised but happy also,” Reed said. “Because we were expecting people to say ‘yeah, you know, I’ll go look on your website,’ but for them to go on there and purchase and be happy and see our product and want it, I was ecstatic.”
