Hart Elementary opens despite Sunday night fire
A flash fire broke out Sunday night on the roof of Hart Elementary around 5 p.m.

Fourteen hours before the start of the 2015-16 school year, Hart Elementary’s cafeteria roof caught fire Sunday night.
A significant amount of tar near the AC units contributed to the small fire, however it is currently unknown how the fire initially ignited. There were no injuries, and the resulting damages to the building were water damages, not fire.
“The fire marshall cleared the building, so we will be having school as usual tomorrow morning,” superintendent Ted Moore said.
School should be fully functional and go as normal as possible. If the cafeteria is unusable, the meals will be prepared at a different campus and then driven over.
