Football wins district, volleyball advances in playoffs

When the Leopard football team began the season 0-3, many fans were uncertain about how the team would fare when it came to District 10-5A play. But after defeating McKinney High 57-28 Friday night at Leopard Stadium, the team is district champion as McKinney North fell to Wylie 42-20 leaving the Leopards alone in first place.

Quarterback Bowman Sells led the way with 277 yards passing and three touchdowns with Aaron Fuller on the receiving end of two of the the touchdowns.

The Leopards open the playoffs Thursday night against The Colony at Frisco Memorial Stadium.

For the volleyball program, it’s on to the third round of the playoffs after Friday’s 3-0 win over Carrollton Creekview. The Leopards will face Rockwall-Heath in Regional Quarterfinals Monday or Tuesday.
