The district is well-known for its schools, but there is one that has been overlooked; a daycare called Little Leopards Day Care.

“Each of our classrooms (Infant through Pre-K) has a daily schedule and an activity plan,” daycare teacher Lisa Leirer said. “Each day, we work with the children on developmental skills – social/emotional, gross motor, fine motor, and cognitive.  We have large group activities, small group activities and one-to-one time with the children.”

The parents are aware that their children are being educated.

“They are driven by a curriculum rather than simply watching movies or playing all day,” AP-Lang English teacher Jasen Eairtheart said.

Little Leopards Day Care is not an ordinary day care as it’s mostly available to Lovejoy ISD employees.

“We offer a discounted rate (compared to market rates) which is a benefit to the Lovejoy staff,” Leirer said. “And having a childcare facility at the district also helps many parents because their children are close by.”

Most teachers believe their children are being given a good education.

“The kids are doing new and different learning exercises every day,” associate band director Nathan Lewis said. “There are structured discovery activities and they are allowed to experience so many new sensations.”

Another perk for staff members – the day care is conveniently located.

“[The daycare] is at Hart Elementary, it’s those portables beside Hart,” AP Physics teacher Michael Voth said. “But they’ve expanded actually, my son’s room is a classroom in Hart.”

The children in the daycare seem to be loving it.

“[My daughter] adores her teachers and enjoys her time with friends,” Eairheart said. “But she is also excited to work on the activities set forth by her teachers.”
