Four Leopard track and field athletes competed in the prestigious Texas Relays in Austin March 20-22.

Competing against some of the top track and field athletes in the nation were seniors

Joe Brands (2000M steeplechase), Kendall Joiner (2000M steeplechase), Lauren Sturm (100M hurdles and pole vault), and sophomore Aaron Fuller (100M sprint).

After blowing out his shoe on the first water jump, Joiner ended up finishing 4th in the steeplechase while Brands finished 6th. Sturm finished 4th in her heat for the 100M hurdles and she cleared 11 feet 7 ¼ inches in the pole vault. Fuller finished 3rd in his heat for the open 100M sprint.

“It was a great meet to go down and run in,” head track coach Greg Christensen said. “Thursday night there were 5 or 10 thousand people in the stands. That will give them a good ramp to build on for district.”
