The Sony PlayStation 4 was released November 15, and sold just over 1 million copies within the first 24 hours.

The previous record for game consoles sold on opening day was held by Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in 2007, which sold 356,000 copies in its first day. Sales for PlayStation 4 were so high that it sold nearly 25 percent of the total Nintendo WiiU systems that have been sold its two years of existence.

“I can’t wait to get the PS4,” freshman Abe Dueck said. “The graphics are amazing, there’s sick new features, and it’s cheaper than the Xbox One.”

Microsoft is releasing it’s Xbox One this Friday, and high sales numbers seem probable, and we’ll just have to wait and see the which console is the best seller. The primary differences between the two systems is that the PS4 is more gaming exclusive and the Xbox One has more entertainment features.

“I liked the Xbox 360 better than PS3, but I’m definitely getting PS4, not Xbox One,” sophomore Mitch Doran said. “The gaming and graphics look way better, plus my friends are getting it too. I just feel like Xbox One is going to be a disappointment.”

The graphics are probably the most impressive feature of the latest PlayStation. Games such as NBA 2K14 and Batman: Arkham Origins feature some of the most beautiful graphics to date.

The visuals are close in appearance to real life, thanks to a revolutionary graphics system provided by the PS4.

“When I first saw the graphics for PS4 I was blown away,” sophomore Philip Lawrence said. “I have a feeling that this console is going to be amazing, I’m super pumped.”

But don’t expect to walk into a place like Best Buy and purchase one of these machines tomorrow though, because they are completely sold out and it will take some time to restock in stores.

“I would do anything to get my hands on it. I want it so bad,” freshman Nick Pitkin said. “I can’t wait to play Call of Duty with my friends.”
