A room full of hundreds of fans wearing costumes, crying, and calling the names of actors from the CW television series “Supernatural” may sound a bit odd to many people, but for senior Amy Bogucki attending “The Salute To Supernatural Dallas Convention” at the Westin Park Central Hotel is an annual event.

“I decided to go again this year because it was such a wonderful experience and it was an opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up,” Bogucki said. “Last year was my first time going and so I didn’t really know what to expect, but this year I already had expectations so it was harder for the actual experience to exceed those, but it was definitely great to go again.”

Last year, Bogucki attended the convention for just one day, but this year she attended the convention on Saturday and Sunday.

“I did spend more money this year to go for two days, and it was worth it,” Bogucki said.  “I got another photo op and ended up getting to talk to Osric Chau in the hotel lobby and he was super chill, so that was cool.”

On Saturday and Sunday, actors from the series have question and answer panels, autograph signings, and photo ops; something Bogucki took advantage of for a price.

“I paid at least $350 for the actual tickets and photo ops and at least $40 when I got to the actual event,” Bogucki said.

Many fans pay for passes for the whole weekend that can add up to hundreds of dollars and includes the price of staying at the hotel.

“I’m a fan of the show, but I think it’s always a crazy amount of money to pay for just a picture,” junior Al Kaylor said.

Fans can pay for merchandise including jewelry, t-shirts, posters, and even nail polish dedicated to Supernatural. No matter what, there is something for fans to do at the event to keep busy.

“It’s fun to hang out with people who share a lot of the same interests as you and to see just how dedicated a lot of people are to this show,” Bogucki said.

Three of the actors on the show, Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, and Mark Sheppard are already confirmed to make appearances at the convention next year.

“I would have loved to go this year, but I didn’t know about it until a week or two before,” junior Haley Whitaker said. “I might try to go next year if I can.”

As for Bogucki, she may be not be going to college in the area, but she’s already got next year’s convention penciled in on her calendar.

“I think I’ll go next year but I might not spend as much money on it, but depending on how college is going, I would love to go because I love the show and I love the people,” Bogucki said.
