The year was 2010. It was Halloween. Like all kids on Halloween, it was essential to go out and grab some tasty candy.
But on this night, some kids made their way home just a bit earlier than they usually would on Halloween night. They walk into their pitch-black homes, walk into the empty living room, floorboards creaking with every step. They set the bags of candy down on the table and reach for the remote. And within seconds the TV is turned to AMC and the kids await the premiere of the new horror/drama series “The Walking Dead” .
Two years later and the TV show has spread like a zombie virus. This story contains no spoilers from the previous seasons. It’s here to simply inform you that “The Walking Dead” is not um, dead. It’s been crawling towards us this whole year, and it’s finally arriving this Sunday.
Hardcore fans of “The Walking Dead” have been cringing with the thought of Season 3. Especially with the finale that Season 2 left us with.
“I was on the verge of tears after the finale when I realized I had to wait until October to get back in the habit of watching the show again,” sophomore James Gladdon said.
The show has definitely made a name throughout the telesphere, even to those who don’t religiously watch the show.
“I haven’t seen the show all the way through just yet. So I suppose you could say I have some catching up to do this week,” senior Erin Shafranek said.
What people that don’t watch this show (how dare you) need to realize, is “The Walking Dead” is not just a horror show. The show is perhaps 15% horror when you break it down episode by episode. The core of the show revolves around survival, family, struggles in humanity, and as cheesy as it may seem, teamwork.
When a show has all of these elements along side horror, the acting has to provide a more than satisfying atmosphere when the viewer is watching, or else it’s just like one of those average teenage horror flicks. This show brings strong acting without any struggle.
It’s a show that leaves viewers screaming at their television screen for more after the episode is done, because the level of suspense that this show brings is substantial.
“It’s very easily one of my favorite shows,” junior Mitch Cross said.
It’s a favorite to many zombie fanatics, and it’s going to continue to stalk viewers this Sunday on AMC.
