Basketball beats the Braves

Elizabeth Bower, Staff Reporter

The Leopard basketball team played the Community Braves at home on February 7. But before they could start, they recognized their seniors. Seniors Ryan Whitt, Gus Rehring, Joseph Gonzalez, Britt Graham, Finley Phillip, and Shelbi Gillentine were all recognized for their dedication and hard work. After the recognition, the Leopards got ready to fight the Braves. They boys got off to a good start, scoring immediately after getting the ball. The boys kept up a strong lead, and continued to score. But the Braves were not going to take a loss easily, and fought equally as hard. The boys fought hard up until the half, and came back even stronger after. Senior Joseph Gonzalez and junior Jake Flaggert both made impressive dunks, leading the boys to a 55-42 win over the braves.  The boys are playoff bound, but still have to take on the Prosper eagles on February 10in Prosper, and the Farmersville Famers on the 14th at their last home game. The Leopards are predicted to play next Thursday or Friday in their first playoff game: time, team and place to be determined.
