With numerous other businesses attempting to make their homes on the McDermott strip near On the Border and IHOP, the newest addition, Matt’s, looks like it may be here to stay. This Tex-Mex restaurant was recommended by peers and became a highly anticipated choice that had to be tried out.
Warm and inviting with its many Mexican styled decorations, the hostesses are friendly and will greet guests warmly upon arrival.
Chips and salsa will be brought immediately upon sitting. It was recommended by the waiter to order drinks immediately though because the salsa is very spicy. Drinks include anything from soda to different fruit juices. The food was ordered and all 7 meals were brought in less than 15 minutes.
Although a bit expensive, the bean and cheese nachos are appealing and delicious. The cheese quesadillas are served nice and crispy. Tortilla soup is another hit. Including vegetables, shredded chicken, and crispy tortilla strips with cheese, the tortilla soup is just what someone would need to warm up on a chilly day.
The service was very good and the decorations gave it an authentic feel. The food, while a little pricey, was exceptional and will definitely leave a person wanting more.
Matt’s is recommended to anyone that may be a TexMex, On the Border, or an Uncle Julio’s fan.
