There are many reasons that The Red Ledger’s Patrick Compton thinks that Suicide Squad could be a hit.

It’s no doubt that Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to be seen by many fans and casual audiences alike (for better or worse). However one film in DC’s line up that has the potential to be something special is none other than the obscure The Suicide Squad, and to prove it here are three reasons as to why.

Number 3: a fantastic cast.

Although Batman V. Superman’s casting is odd to say the least, Suicide Squad is quite the opposite. Everybody chosen is perfect for their respective roles. Jared Leto as The Joker (we’ll get to him later), Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as The Enchantress, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Although Tom Hardy dropped out as Rick Flag, rumor has it that Jake Gyllenhaal is to take his place, so it’s a fair trade.

Number 2: it’s not a well-known property.

This may seem like a strange thing to include but bear in mind that Guardians of the Galaxy was a similar unknown. Some saw this as a mistake before the film came out because it would lack marketability but in the end Guardians became one of the highest grossing films of 2014. So who’s to say the same can’t be done for Suicide Squad? Especially considering number one.

Number 1: The Joker is back.

Heath Ledger was a legendary actor and gave the world a legendary performance as one of the greatest villains of all time with his turn as The Joker. Tragically he passed away shortly afterwards and to pay respect to him, Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. decided to leave the character alone for a little while to honor Heath’s memory. However it seems that the right time has come to finally bring the character back to the big screen with a new actor to portray him, and Warner Bros. made sure to cast him correctly. With none other than Jared Leto portraying the clown prince of crime, a door is opened to show audiences a fresh new take of this classic character.

With all of that being said let’s hope that Suicide Squad lives up to its potential and blows audiences away.
