Seniors have certain stipulations they must follow while working on their Senior Projects.

Katie Brucher, Staff Reporter

With many seniors confused about what is happening next with senior project, college/career counselor Addison Snyder explains important details about the project.

The Red Ledger: When is the deadline for the Senior Project?

Snyder: “The deadline will depend on the student’s presentation date. We have five presentation dates this year (Dec. 11, Feb. 10, Feb. 19, March 10 and April 1). Portfolio’s are due to one of the senior project coordinators two weeks prior to the presentation date. This allows us to review the portfolio and ensure all of the components are included and meet satisfactory requirements. Seniors will be able to submit a Google form in a few weeks to request a specific presentation date. It is first come, first served and students will get ample notice about when the link will become live.”

The Red Ledger: What is the protocol for changing senior project ideas?

Snyder: “If a student decides to change their Senior Project they must discuss it with one of the Senior Project coordinators (Ms. Snyder, Mr. Trevino or Mr. Erskine) and then submit a new letter of intent and poster for approval. There is a pre-formatted letter of intent available online through the Senior Project link on the LHS home page.”

The Red Ledger: When will students receive information on what the next step is in their senior project?

Snyder: “All seniors will be attending a lunch time presentation through 4th period classes on September 17. They will receive instruction on next steps including how to complete several Google form survey we will make available through the Senior Project web page.”

The Red Ledger: What are all of the components of the senior project?

Snyder: “The Senior Project web page contains detailed information about the components of the Senior Project as well as example word documents students can use to ensure their letter of intent, letter to the judges and annotated bibliography are formatted correctly. A list of the contents is also available there. Broadly speaking a student’s Senior Project will include a research component, an activity they carry out and a formal presentation in front of a board of judges on their presentation date.”
