The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Is a student led club at Lovejoy High School that brings together athletes and non athletes to grow in faith and community. The group meets regularly after school on Mondays at 7:30, and gives students a good opportunity to share their faith with others.
Coleman Reaugh said, “FCA has helped me grow my personal relationship with Jesus 10 times stronger than before.¨
FCA’s mission is to inspire students to live with integrity, serve others, and show leadership that is rooted in Christian values. Guest speakers, coaches and student leaders often share messages that connect everyday struggles and adversity in all aspects of life and faith, making the meetings relatable and meaningful.
When asked about the talks at FCA Braden Buchek said, “The talks are really meaningful to me, especially knowing that they are coming from other leaders, so it gives me new perspectives on things”.
Throughout the year, FCA hosts special events such as “See you at the pole” and “Fields of Faith” to reach a bigger scale of other people. The club also encourages members to be role models in their classrooms, on their teams, and in their daily lives.
Carson Fox said “Fields of Faith” ¨Was really fun! Getting to meet new students from LCA (Lucas Christian Academy) was so cool, and the message is always powerful, engaging, and relatable”.
Many students say FCA has given a sense of belonging and a stronger support system. By creating a space where faith and friendships go hand in hand, FCA continues to make a lasting impact on the culture at Lovejoy HIgh School.
When Kenji Ellis was asked about how his friendships have grown stronger with FCA he said, ¨Surrounding myself in a Christ centered community has made me a better man of God and given me a great group of people that I can lead on in times of need¨.
