Volleyball has not taken their foot off the gas and keeps plowing through their competition as they are on a 6 game win streak in district. They defeated their rivals, the McKinney North Bulldogs, in three sets: 25-20, 25-11, 25-16.
“Tuesday’s game was a huge rivalry,” sophomore Skylar Jackson said. “McKinney North and the Leopards have slowly created tension making the environment so exciting helping us play at a higher level. We swept them in 3 sets starting off slow but finishing fast and strong.”
Junior middle blocker Shelby Burriss led the team with nine kills. Followed by junior outside hitter Anna Barr with eight and freshman outside hitter Gentry Barker with seven. Barker has the highest number of aces on the Lady Leopards volleyball team with 34 aces.
“Our game went very well, and our chemistry has definitely grown exponentially.” freshman Gentry Barker said. “We have learned to trust each and every other girl on our team and we are working like a well oiled machine.”
Not only did the girls come out on top on Tuesday, but the Lady Leopards swept The Princeton Panthers in 3 sets on the previous Friday. They had a bi week on Sept. 29th.
“On Friday we had a similar outcome, we won the game 25-2, our game plan was executed perfectly.” Jackson said. “Our team chemistry is like no other; everyone is each other’s best friends. We love being around each other on and off the court.”
The girls will play Melissa on Tuesday, starting their second round of district play.
“All three of our teams have consistently been working hard and executing what we ask of them,” Coach Ashtyn Richey said. “We are so proud of the younger teams as they have progressed and grown so much throughout this season and we are looking forward to the end of district and playoffs.”
