“Jesus Revolution” is a movie that will make you laugh, cry and feel like you’re on the silver screen instead of watching it. It is truly one of the best faith based movies I have ever seen. Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) and Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammar) touched my heart and made this film come to life. It was an inspiring and uplifting story I will always remember.
Normally I am the kind of person to cringe at Christian movies, because they are often cheesy, but this movie went way beyond that. The historical accuracy was spot on and the acting truly came from the soul. I liked how this film showed the journey of why churches should be inclusive and full of different types of people. It shows how God loves everyone no matter their past or current actions. The story of Lonnie Frisbee, Greg Laurie and Chuck Smith strikes different tones, but makes for essential viewing for all. Everyone needs to see this powerful story on the big screen, because it will impact your life greatly.
When I think of the 70s, which is the time period of the movie, Jesus doesn’t really come to mind. This movie showcases the real-life story of the “Jesus Movement” that took place in the 1970s. It happened simultaneously with the Vietnam War, which is another reason kids ended up trying to find peace and love. The only thing about this movie I did not find excellent was that they made the 1970s seem completely joyful. While I look back at articles from that time period, it was not all sunshine, because there was a lot of violence in the world. I understand the point of the movie was to show love overtakes addiction and violence, but they didn’t showcase the bad nearly at all which made it hard to fully understand.
Overall this movie was probably my favorite of 2023 so far. It made me feel every emotion, and I never got bored. I highly recommend this movie and even if you aren’t Christian, you will feel an overwhelming amount of passion towards the movie. I highly recommend Jesus Revolution even though there’s an overwhelming amount of bare feet!
