Take 2: Royal Netflix deal, honoring Chadwick Boseman

Harry and Meghan Netflix Deal: Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. As a part of the deal, they will make a variety of films including documentaries. This is a familiar area to Markle, who was an actress known for her role in “Suits” prior to joining the royal family. 

Significance: This shows how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are moving on with their lives after parting from their royal duties in January. Along with the new job, the pair recently purchased a home in Montecito. While it is still unclear the specifics of what they will be doing with Netflix, it shows how the couple moving on.

Remembering Chadwick Boseman: Chadwick Boseman, an actor best known for his role in Black Panther, passed away Aug. 28 after a battle against colon cancer, which he chose to keep private. There have been many people honoring Boseman, including his hometown in South Carolina, where a sculpture will be built in his honor. Many celebrities such as Oprah and the Obama’s have spoken out in remembrance as well. 

Significance: Boseman was Marvel’s first Black superhero. This was very impactful to a large array of people who have honored his passing. To remember him, the Chadwick Boseman Memorial Scholarship was established at the actor’s high school. More than just remembering him, it is giving back.
