On Friday, September 6, Lovejoy High School’s stadium held the Leopards first home game of the season. The Leopards won the game with a final score of 34-27. Lovejoy’s student section, The Jungle, dressed in patriotic colors to continue the theme of USA from the pep rally earlier that day.

  • Senior Benjamin Nopper practices waving his flag before the football player’s run out. He is a member of the Dirty Drumline that was brought back this year.

  • Varsity cheerleader Grace Felton laughs as Dirty Drumline member Matt Piccirillo dances with his flag. The Dirty Drumline stood with the school flags on the 40 yard line before the team took the field.

  • Junior Triton Freels poses when he notices that his picture is being taken. Freels is one of the two juniors apart of the Dirty Drumline this year.

  • Junior Majestic Alexa Barajas walks through the leopard head with her ‘Mini Majestics’ before the football players run out. The Majestics have their second Mini Majestic camp taking place in April.

  • Varsity football players Keith Qualls, Harper Pool, Tyler Loop, and Sean Sumners face the flag while the National Anthem played before the football game began. The players’ first home game was their first win of the season.

  • John Ponder reaches out to take down the Sulphur Springs receiver. Ponder received an award for being one of the most productive defense players this game.

  • Seniors Austin King and John Ponder tackle Sulphur Springs wide receiver Bryan Sanchez for a loss.

  • Junior Jordan Sleeper, and sophomore Joeley Hedgcoxe and Keira Ho dance as the band plays Shake It Off by Taylor Swift. The band performed ‘Juliet’ their UIL routine for this year during halftime.

  • Junior Ralph Rucker evades Wildcat linebacker Ryan Carrillo as he makes his way down the field. This is Rucker's second year on varsity, but first year as a starting quarterback.

  • Rendle McCartney celebrates with Dillon Magee and Blake Slaughter after he intercept a pass from the opposing team.

  • Sophomore running back Noah Naidoo gains ten-yards after getting handed the ball from Ralph Rucker. Naidoo also plays for a national team outside of school.

  • Sera Muyco grins as she is awarded her megaphone. It is tradition for senior cheerleaders to be given them on the first home game.

  • Sophomore Dillon Magee receives the ball off of a punt return. Magee rushes the ball past the twenty-yard-line.

  • Seniors John Ponder and Austin King tackle a Sulphur Springs player during the first quarter. Ponder and King are both part of the linebacker core this season.

  • Wide Receiver Leighton Archer attempts to evade two Sulphur Springs players on his way to the endzone. The team will play Frisco Memorial on Friday for the annual Leopard Friday game.

  • Ralph Rucker recovers from a tackle during the third quarter. Rucker secures his helmet after the fall.

  • Senior Rendle McCartney, Junior Blake Slaughter, and Sophomore Dillon Magee celebrate after scoring a touchdown. Senior Austin King rolled into the endzone scoring the second touchdown of the night.

  • Junior Ralph Rucker runs to gain some yards after catching the ball. Rucker is the starting quarterback this year for the Leopards.
