At a glance:

Home country: Spain

Fluent languages: Spanish, German and French

Started learning English: 3 years old.

Looking Deeper:

TRL: Why did you pick the U.S.?

Isabel Martinez Martin: I wanted to know more about the culture and experience it myself. I’ve always wanted to come here, and I love the high schools. Also for improving my English.

TRL: What is your favorite part about America?

IMM: The high school and the spirit and typical things from it.

TRL: What do you miss the most, other than your family and friends, about Spain?

IMM: I miss the food and some traditions like going to the town in holidays in which we dance the typical dance some people run with bulls. Celebrating some special days in Spain like the Hispanic day (Oct. 12) and New year’s Eve in which we eat one grape per the last 12 seconds of the year.

TRL: Was it hard for you to decide to come to the U.S. for a year?

IMM: It was at the beginning because of my allergies but then we decided that is a unique, amazing and unforgettable experience so I decided that I wanted to come and also that I would learn English really easily and I’m never going to forget it

TRL: What are you looking forward to the most this year?

IMM: To make a lot of friends, learn everything about U.S. and have an unforgettable experience
