District season has arrived for the boys soccer team (10-2-1). They are set to play the Wylie East Raiders (7-3) in the district opener tomorrow night at 7:30. Wylie East is the only team from the 2018 season that is still in the same district this year.

“Wylie East is supposed to be pretty good this year so I’m excited to kick off district play against them,” senior captain Max Pabin said.

Wylie East is currently on a four-game win streak, with their last win coming from Lindale with a score 4-0. Last season, the Leopards defeated East on both occasions the teams met.

“If we are able to control the ball and the pace of the game, I think we will be able to come out on top,” senior Christian Kwon said.

Last Friday, the Leopards tied Sulphur Springs (4-5-2) with a score of 1-1. Senior Caleb Toomey scored the lone goal for the Leopards with the assist by senior Benji Merrick. There were no shootouts in this game because it was non-district, preseason play.

“Our preseason schedule was pretty good,” senior Brock Yeager said. “It allowed us to try new things and play good teams that will give us a good feel for when we are in the district stretch.”

Next Tuesday, the Leopards will face the Denison Yellow Jackets (1-6-1) for their first district away game.
