The tennis team (8-1, 1-0) has gotten off to a fast start early on in the fall season and owns a record of 8-1. The team will go on the road to face Denison in the second district match of the year today at 4:30 p.m.

Currently in practice, the team is working on groundstrokes, volleys, serves, and returns in preparation for today’s match against Denison.

Senior Dylan Smith said he expects the team’s recent momentum to carry into its upcoming match.

“Our team is currently on a winning streak, which will give us confidence against Denison and the games ahead,” Smith said.

The team looks to continue to play at a high level despite losing a handful of talented seniors last year.

“Our team goals are to win district and make a deep playoff run like we did last year,” head coach Adam Cherry said.

Last week, the team cruised to a 19-0 victory against Wylie East in the opening game of district play.

After the match against Denison, the team will host Sherman next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
