Two events this week will be hosted by the school’s chapter of Relay For Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The first event, a powderpuff volleyball tournament, will be held on March 29 from 6-8 p.m. and will feature male students competing against teachers. Admission is $3 per spectator.

“We are asking the volleyball team to act as coaches for the game,” Relay For Life president senior Meredith Ehlmann said. “There is no entry fee for teams signing up. However, the sign up is closed. It’s just going to be one student team versus one teacher team.”

The second event is Bark for Life, which will be held on March 31 from 1-4 p.m. Students may bring their dogs to the Canine Commons dog park in the Villages at Allen, where there will be a dog costume contest and dog wash.

“Bark For Life is a small Relay For Life for dogs leading up to the event of Relay,” Ehlmann said. “People can come with or without a dog and pay a [small donation]. There will be a costume contest and bandanas for sale along with luminarias. There will be dogs to pet, and it’s a great way to get excited about Relay.”
