Happy: Good eats

With meat as the most predominant option for students to eat at lunch, it’s refreshing to see vegetarian options available from the school cafeteria.

At first, we overlooked the meat-free foods because of the assumption that everything offered here to eat was either not vegetarian or unhealthy. However, there are several meals that are meat-free and healthy. The hummus and veggies bistro box, caprese sandwiches, black bean veggie burgers, and fresh fruits and steamed vegetables are the healthier vegetarian options. The unhealthier ones are vegetable egg rolls, pasta and fried rice with no meat, cheese pizza, french fries, and cookies.

It’s pleasing to see the variety of food options and that students with different diets are being supported by our student nutritionists.
