Confused: Teen luxury cars

Our parking lot is littered with Jeeps, Range Rovers, and Mercedes. The average cost of these cars is about $31,000, and they are going to teenagers.  Lovejoy is in a privileged community, and we understand that some students are more fortunate than others, but where’s the logic in this situation? In other areas, it is rare for a teen to even have a car.

In 2017, 196,000 teens were injured in a car accident. Aside from the safety of the teen, their family also has to deal with the state of the car. How does it make sense to give a new driver a luxury car when the statistics for teenage crashes are so high? These drivers are between 15 and 18 and have had a maximum of three years of driving experience. This gives them a greater chance of crashing the car, which not only damages the car but puts the driver at risk. So the question stands: why do so many students have luxury cars?
