Absences in a high school are not uncommon. Some students miss for doctor appointments or birthdays, but YouTubers Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight are missing a month of school to go on a nationwide tour, where they will depart on Oct. 5, and return on Oct. 29.

“We are going to 16 different cities all over the U.S., so we will be doing four cities every week, for four weeks,” Brooklyn said.

Concerts will feature the twins’ music, interactive audience games, skits, and discussions, all with the theme “A Day in the Life of Brooklyn and Bailey.”

The tour starts in southern Texas, and they will then move up through North Texas to Oklahoma, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, then four locations in the New England area. After that, they will fly across the country to California and Nevada and finish in Los Angeles on Oct. 29.

Going on tour in the middle of the school year provides the twins with the task of keeping up with the work load.

“Math is the hardest because you have to be actually in class to learn certain lessons,” Bailey said. “Math for some reason is something that is really hard to keep up with on your own.”

Teachers have adapted to the cycle of having the YouTubers in their classes.

“There’s been positive [responses], a lot of teachers have been really supportive and easy to work with us being gone, and working with our schedule, and being able to give us homework assignments, and it makes our load a little bit easier,” Brooklyn said.

Despite the difficulty of keeping up with homework on the road as they travel from city to city, the hardest part for the sisters is coming back from the tour.

“You are so used to this new schedule, coming back sometimes you get all that homework and early mornings, and you’re behind, and a lot of things, so catching up is probably the worst part,” Brooklyn said.
