After a victory against West Mesquite last week, the tennis team will take on Forney High School at home on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m.

Junior Dylan Smith said the team is practicing hard every week and are even working out late on Friday’s.

“Coach Cherry is trying to introduce more conditioning in each practice to make sure we are in shape,” Smith said.

Head coach Adam Cherry was impressed by his team’s large margin win over West Mesquite.

“I thought our team performed really well against Mesquite–winning 19-0 really speaks to the strength of our depth,” Cherry said.

Last week, the tennis team was named number six in the state by the Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) as their season rankings came out.

“I am pumped about being ranked number six in the state,” Cherry said.”I hope we climb in the rankings and finish even higher by the end of the season.”

After the Mesquite game on Tuesday, the team will go on the road to take on Wylie East next week.
