The baseball team (11-15-1 overall, 1-9 in district) face McKinney High (8-18 overall, 1-10 in district) at 7:30 p.m. at home with sophomore Jacob Eschler scheduled to be on the mound.

Jacob is scheduled to pitch vs McKinney this Friday,” head coach Jason Wilson said. “He is doing well and getting valuable experience as a sophomore.”

Wednesday night, after a one-day delay, the team fell to Wylie High school (29-1 overall, 10-1 in district) in a close game, 5-4. The Leopards and the Pirates were tied 4-4 in the 5th inning, but Wylie pulled away in the 6th.

Senior CJ Vogel talked about his focus for the remainder of the season.

“I’m focused on doing whatever I can to put the team in a better situation to win,” Vogel said.

McKinney High is turning around after also having a weather delay, which they lost to Prosper 7-3. While Lovejoy lost to Wylie by one run, the Pirates dominated McKinney 5-0. With McKinney being the second to last home game, Vogel added advice to upcoming high school and varsity baseball players.

“Listen to your coaches,” Vogel said. “They’re only here to help you and put you into the best situation for yourself and the team.”
