Should I do it? Well don’t let your dreams be dreams

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? I don’t really care. I just want pictures of Spider-Man.

Looking deeper

The Red Ledger: What do you want to do in the future?

Trace Glorioso: I want to go into acting and game design.

TRL: Why do you want to go into acting and game design?

TG: I enjoy programming at home a lot. I also like theatre. It’s a lot of fun and I have fun with my friends in every show I’m in and production class.

TRL: What caused you in sixth grade to realize that you wanted to create games?

TG: Well I went to this game development camp and I got to play with some flash games that were very primitive, and after that I learned about all of this stuff I would learn in computer science.

TRL: How was your first high school audition?

TG: I was a nervous wreck. Yeah it was rough, but it was fun; it was a lot of fun.

TRL: What is your favorite play that you have been in?

TG: It’d probably have to be a tie between “Little Mermaid” and “Seussical,” because it was such a blast be in such a high scale show with all of these props and lights and stuff. It was just the funnest time ever and getting to experience all of the settings and stuff in middle school, it felt like a high school show and Ms. D did such a fabulous job with that. In “Seussical” we’re doing all of this amazing stuff for children’s theatre and it’s just so awesome.

TRL: What is your favorite video game?

TG: Megaman because I’ve always really liked 2D Games, like side scrollers and stuff. Pretty much everything made by Keiji Inafune I like.

TRL: What was the first game you made like?

TG: So the first game I ever made by myself, like not at a camp or anything was probably in 7th grade. I made this RPG, this role-playing game. It was basically like Legend of Zelda, but with my own twist on it. I was really mad that I couldn’t change my class in one of these role-playing games, and I made this game where you can change your class at any time. I had a whole assortment of all these different types of armor and stuff. That’s one my favorite things in a game, customization. I just made like the most customizable game ever. I still have it on this little USB that I carried around in middle school. I sometimes occasionally work on it.

TRL: Are there any other forms of media you enjoy as much as video games?

TG: I like movies and stuff too, but I’ve always been more of a gaming-type person. I just think it’s cooler to actually interact and have choices in what you play.

TRL: Do you have any other hobbies?

TG: I love choir! I like to do animation for Mr. Cooper’s class, and I like to help make movies with Patrick Compton and again, I really like card games like Yu-Gi-Oh.

TRL: Has high school helped you pursue your career in gaming and/or acting?

TG: Yes it has. Ms. Brewster and Mr. Davenport are some the most influential people in my entire life. They’re just so amazing and they’ve helped me grow as a person and as an actor. Ms. Ford is so awesome. Me and her joke around all the time and have a great time in computer science it’s just, I really really do enjoy my teachers, it’s just the funnest time ever.

TRL: What is the biggest thing for you to overcome in high school?

TG: I think the biggest thing for me to overcome is maintaining my grades, because in order to be in such challenging classes as many of the students are here at the school- I’m just so proud of the school, everyone’s in such challenging classes, it’s just so cool to be at this school- so I’m like trying to challenge myself and take as many AP classes as I can, but with that comes a lot of hard work and I feel like if I can overcome juggling my classes, as well as like, my passions I feel like that would benefit me in the long run.
