The boys cross country team has qualified for the 5A State Championship meet on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock after finishing second at the Region 2-5A meet on Oct. 26 in Grand Prairie.

Though the girls did not qualify for state as a team, senior Ariaan Cnossen did qualify individually after finishing 20th at regionals with a time of 19:25.

“The main focus for the state meet is to keep everyone healthy up to the race time and let their training take over,” head cross country coach Greg Christensen said.

The boys’ top runner was junior Grant Tiff who placed 9th in regionals with a time of 15:40. Senior William Wise, finished not far off from Tiff at 21st place with a time of 16:15.

“I think that the boys and girls team did great at regionals,” freshman Cole Hinton said. “We all worked hard. The XC guys are excited for state and ready to run.”

The Leopards are again going head-to-head with some of the best teams in the state. Even runners who didn’t qualify are still working help their teammates get ready for the state meet.
“At regionals I felt the team did their best,” freshman Carson Hockersmith said. “I’m going to continue my training so i can help Ariaan prepare for the state meet.
